10 minute drive down the Alpine way is the Wild Brumby Distillery which is has great value lunches and a quick snaps before going onto Crackenback farm for Dinner.

Thredbo is 15 minutes drive up the road, which caters for Skiing and Snowboarding in the winter months and great mountain hikes in the cooler summer months. Lake Crackenback is at the base of the ski tube which takes you to the Perisher ski resort.

Many thousands of people make the trip to the mountains in the winter to snowboard, ski, and enjoy cross-country skiing or even snowshoe. The following two companies are currently providing assistance with equipment, sales, and general advice.

With their lead, you can experience a Sunrise Walk, an Alpine Sunset, a Brumbie walk, or even an evening stroll under the stars in many places including Blue Lake and Mount Twynam, the Snowy River Headwaters, the Kosciuszko Summit, as well as the Western Fells or The Sentinel.

You will find the Kosciuszko National Park at the heart of Australia’s Snowy Mountains. Being the highest national park in the country, it is simultaneously one of the largest in area. With its diverse plant and animal protection areas, more than three million visitors come to the region each year to enjoy activities including bush walking, skiing, mountain biking, camping, and even caving.

The cinema can be found in the Snowy Region Visitor Centre on Kosciuszko Road, Jindabyne. In the facility all of the latest films can be viewed, with special showings during peak periods.

The city of Thredbo is located in the Alpine Way inside Kosciuszko National Park and has countless activities for people of any age and interest. There are guided outings to Mount Kosciuszko that begin with a popular chairlift ride that gives one a very nice introduction to the Snowy Mountains. There are also children’s programs for holiday periods. You might choose to go for a swim in our heated indoor pool which also provides a fun waterslide for children. The caving area is approximately two and a half hours from Jindabyne and sports all kinds of caves to be toured either with a guide or by oneself. After caving, one can swim in thermal pools, snack in the picnic area with electric barbecues, or combine the trip with a drive to Tumut 2 power station located in Cabramurra.

There are large numbers of local Eastern Grey kangaroos at Lake Crackenback, as well as Benney’s wallabies, hairy-nosed wombats and echidnas. You might also be lucky enough to see emus and brumbies.
